About uls-tracker

uls-tracker is an independent service for tracking U.S. amateur radio callsigns: license history, status changes, and vanity-callsign availability. Built for hams who hunt vanity slots, watch friends' licenses, or just want a clean chronological view the FCC's own search pages don't provide.

Where the data comes from

All data is sourced from the FCC's Universal Licensing System public weekly + daily files. We download and re-import the latest files every morning at 06:30 ET; pages reflect that day's ingest within a few minutes.

How the available-date is computed

Vanity availability is derived from FCC §97.19, applied to the most recent freeing event we can find for the callsign:

• Cancelled or terminated — the 2-year hold begins on the cancellation date. Available on cancellation date + 730 days.
• Expired — the FCC gives the prior holder a 2-year renewal grace period; only after that does the 2-year hold start. Available on expiration date + 1460 days.

Each slot also carries a small confidence label:

• High — the source event (cancelled / terminated / expired) is observed and the date is firm under §97.19.
• Medium — the source event type is unknown; treat the date as approximate within ±2 years.

AE7Q and other trackers occasionally disagree on a slot's availability. We'll surface that disagreement explicitly when we add cross-source checks; until then, treat dates as best-available rather than legally binding.

Independence

uls-tracker is not affiliated with the FCC, the ARRL, AE7Q, RadioQTH, or any vanity application service. We don't file vanity applications on your behalf and we don't share watchlist data with third parties.
